artist statement

I forge connections through investigations of the human condition. Rather than centering on minutiae of my personal narrative, I seek to identify my commonalities with others. Narrow perceptions become universal through projection upon my subject matters.

I find intense humanity in the nonhuman, and figures appear in my work often simply as props in a larger narrative. Private scenes exist as windows into unknown lives, intentionally keeping viewers at arms length. Through this push and pull, the paradox of human connection is exposed.
